Classes
Beginner:
The beginner Tae Kwon Do classes are for people who have never tried Tae Kwon Do before (white belt), up to and including green belt. These classes focus on developing the core skills needed to be successful in Tae Kwon Do. Beginners learn the first several patterns in ITF Tae Kwon Do (Chon Ji, Dan Gun, Do San), learn basic kicks and punches, and improve their strength, skill and flexibility through body conditioning. These classes are fun and productive for the beginner or novice. Classes are held from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, with the under-19 students Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the over-19 students Mondays and Wednesdays. Friday classes are open to all. Come out and give it a try!
Advanced:
The advanced classes are for students with some experience in Tae Kwon Do, with participants holding ranks of blue stripe and above. The advanced students are given the opportunity to hone their skills and fine tune their technique under the watchful eye of an experienced instructor. The curriculum for these classes includes advanced body conditioning, sparring drills, advanced kicks and punches, and self defense drills.
These classes emphasize the development of a positive and productive attitude towards Tae Kwon Do; it is stressed that practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. In that same spirit, much more emphasis is placed on sparring drills and timing drills than on free sparring.
Cardio Fitness:
The cardio fitness classes are held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm Monday through Friday, and from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays. These classes feature an intense aerobic and anaerobic workout, so be sure to bring plenty of water. This class usually includes two sessions per week of strength training (resistance with bands.)
